Stephanie, it's also worth using FreeBMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl to check for records as there are going to be records on there that won't be on familysearch. Granted, you're only getting the index and no details but it will give you options to consider - you can then ask on here for census lookups to try and verify what you've found.

Another site that is free is Mundia http://www.mundia.com/gb/
It's a spin-off from Ancestry and all public Ancestry trees can be searched, viewed and the owners contacted. I'd always warn that many public trees may not be accurate - people copy rubbish from one tree to another without checking it out. However, there are some good ones and you might, just might, find someone researching the same people who has info to share.

thank you marieceleste they used to do a free census search on genes reunited which was great but t hey seem to have stopped doing that now as that really did help me but i have no money coming in at the moment to pay for the sites

Hello Stephanie, I presume you are also using other sites for your research as FamilySearch is by no means complete. Just because you found records on there that seem to fit, it doesn't necessarily mean they are the right ones (we've all fallen into similar traps and are just trying to make sure that doesn't happen here).

There could be records on other sites that may be relevant.

The other thing to bear in mind is that first and middle names are very very often reversed on records so what is Maud Ellen on one could also be Ellen Maud on another. The addition or omission of E's on the end of names is also very common.

What you really need to do is buy a copy of her actual marriage certificate to check things like her father's occupation, address, witnesses (may be family members) etc.

You set a false trial.............

reggie the baptism is the 05/05/1875 but that is for thomas spooner and i have gone back on his line already and thank you for your last post
