SUCCESS!! I have just had a telephone conversation with Dierdre Becker nee Layton. It was a mind blowing conversation. Her brother Tony Layton died aged 41 as did their mother Ethel. |

I know that poor Fred only had one arm due to a pre war accident. Maybe I'll have another shot at finding Dierdre's brother Tony (1933). Thanks everybody |

Thanks for that. Yes it looks like poor Fred survived Ethel by a good few years. So he was already dead before Dierdre got married! So with both parents gone emigration looks even more likely? |

Oh dear - That looks as if Ethel died an early death in Edmonton. Maybe that is an area to concentrate on to see whether Fred remarried. I much appreciate your help. |

Thanks for replying. I have done tree searches a few times over the past couple of years and only one lead which did not come to anything. I don't have death certs for the parents yet. Maybe the Lautier address was Dierdre's but that was a couple of years before her marriage. I can't find any obvious children born to the marriage so far. That is what leads me to believe they emigrated. The marriage cert may have clues but I thought I'd give the boards a try before sending for one. Dierdre's parent ran a newsagents shop on Mansfield Road London NW5 during the WW2 years |

The above couple married in Q1 1966 in Kensington London. They then disappeared! Does anyone have any idea of how I can trace if they emigrated. I would be very grateful for any help. Dierdre was born in 1938 in Pancras London and her parents were Fred and Ethel Layton (nee Billings). She had a brother Tony 1933 and he has also vanished! |
