Ann what do you mean what relation is John Cowburn to James and alice?

John Cowburn born 1851 is said on the 1851 census to be the son of James and Alice - although Alice seems a bit old at 54 to be having children. It's always possible that he was the son of their daughter Ellen and brought up as James and Alice's son.

The original says Ellen is Married but not a word about name change or that that child is hers thats on the 1851 census
