Gerald Report 2 Mar 2013 11:45

Wow, what can I say, but thanks to all of you for the research you have done for me, it will certainly give me something to mull over and put all the pieces together. All intriguing, especially the "changing" of Charlottes name on the census, I am picturing the family dispute and heated arguments!
Many thanks once again.

did they change her name, or did one of them not know what they were calling the new baby? :-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 1 Mar 2013 21:10

and yes, that birth registration does look like hers

Births Jun 1911 (>99%)

Anderton Caroline G King's N. 6c 435

The 1911 Census was held on the night of Sunday, 2 April 1911

If she was 2 months old, that looks as though she was born in February, and registered after April 1 (June quarter being for registrations in April, May and June)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 1 Mar 2013 21:06

He also first wrote Caroline (or ?? Carella) Anderton, then crossed out Caroline, and Charlotte Gertrude was written in, in what looks like a different hand ............... definitley a different pen

Similarly, the name of the Boarder was first written as Mary Ann Seymour, then crossed out, and the same different pen and ??hand wrote in Mary Ann Seymore

SylviaInCanada Report 1 Mar 2013 21:02

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 1 Mar 2013 20:44

Looking at the 1911 image.........i think that "Charlotte Gertrude's" age of 1 has been amended to read..........age 2 months.

And on closer inspection..........i think she is actually..........

Births Jun 1911 (>99%)
Anderton Caroline G King's N. 6c 435

Does anyone else agree with that??

For what it’s worth - In 1911, Mary Ann Seymore, the boarder was a widow and born in Bromsgrove, Worcs. Y.O.B c1849.

She's not jumping off the page in any other census.

Gerald

Gerald Report 1 Mar 2013 19:09

That could well be Henrietta's death, the registration district for Smethwick was Kings Norton, if so she didn't have too long a life after the last census, and all those young children too, but I suppose that was very common then, she was my grandfathers sister so maybe at last I have found out about another family member - thanks.
