Sorry Reggie. I was just trying to check my facts and I thought if I found out more about her it might help me in some way. The childrens ages and the date of marriage I had just didnt add up.

Thanks again everyone for your help

Jane, from what I can see from later census records it appears that on the 1878 marriage it was Simpson Dix that Emma Perrin married.

You need to confirm who it is that you're tracing - is it Emma Perrin or is it John Abel (Able). If it's Emma then you may be on the wrong track with that marriage.

EDIT: I see you answered the question before I asked it!!

Millie might not be 'short' for anything

It is a name in its own right.

However, if it was a diminutive, it would most likely have been for Millicent

Which of these people are you related to?

Jane Report 2 Mar 2013 10:23

Thanks for the 1871 census. That is the correct family. So he was at home in 1871.

MarieCeleste. I dont know know now. I was going through my records this morning and they said he married Emma Perrin. I checked this on Freebmd and this marriage was not until 1878 which meant he would have had to have been married before.

Now looking at the marriage you have found then that one is more likely to be correct. I thought that Millie and Edward were John and Emma's children but they might not be.

What is Millie short for please.

Thank you both for your help

Definitely.............

If Jane is researching Emma Perrin, she's got the wrong 1881 census info

Yes, I edited as well...............I posted the marriage while you were editing, but we got there between us

Reggie, I think they're two different couples. (Oh, you've edited now)

Marriages Mar 1878 (>99%)
ABEL John Stone 6b 67
DIX Simpson Stone 6b 67
HACKLEY Lizzie Jane Stone 6b 67
Perrin Emma Stone 6b 67

The 1881 census is not for the couple shown in this marriage, and there is nothing on it to show who married whom.............

Hello Jane - why do you think he'd been married before?

Where does Emma Perrin on your thread title fit in?

I think this is the marriage for that couple on the 1881:

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Sep 1870
ABELL John Birmingham 6d 13 <<<
ELLIOTT Emma Jane Birmingham 6d 13 <<<
PARGETER Caroline Birmingham 6d 13
WILKS William Birmingham 6d 13
