World War II Merchant Navy Records

I am trying to track down Merchant Seaman service records for the period 1939-1945 for Charles Alfred Bellamy born 1917 in Middlesbrough. I am interested in finding out what ships he served on.

I have located one record on F.M.P. Merchant Seaman Records but this does not cover the war period.

Does anyone know of any other sources that may provide the required information?

You could try the National Archives

Thanks for the suggestion Gins, but checked and no records available on the National Archives web site, apart from the Find My Past record mentioned.

Hi You could try the London Metropolitan Archives. They are indexing the Lloyds Captains Register and if he had his captains' certificate he would probably be in it.
