Thank you everyone for all the kind words and private messages. I will be back on around midnight and will have a good look at the info you have all sent me as I really can't sleep at the minute so it might just keep me occupied.

Hi Tracy ... seems to be your George Pickard Chapman who died at Harvey W Aus 2004. (shown on 'Ozburials')
The 'West Australian State Library' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service...they will check the current electoral rolls for Elsie Chapman.

At least two members appear to have George in GR trees........you might do better contacting them, rather than the lady who has Elsie Gummerson, as I don't think Elsie Gummerson is in any way connected with George

I rather think you looked for a marriage between a male Simpson and 'Elsie' and latched on to the wrong one

You really do need to cross-refer everything when doing FH

If my thinking about how you proceeded is wrong.........I apologise.

Tracy

You haven't said where you got the idea that Elsie was a Gummerson at birth

The evidence of her marriages , and the birth of her child with George disprove that theory.

I have deleted my posts and sent by PM because of the late dates, including a 1st marriage to Arthur and a child born to that marriage.

So the MMN on Linda's birth cert was accurate.

You seem to have been following entirely the wrong line.

What you NEED is the 1948 marriage cert...............

Tracy

Don't rely on what people tell you.........do your OWN research

You can easily find Elsie's siblings by using freebmd..................

You MUST use freebmd to get FACTS.............including the birth of the child of Elsie's first marriage

It is too recent to post on here........but there's no need for anyone to do that, as you can so easily find it yourself.

There is a birth of a girl Gummerson with MMN Gummerson in 1939 in Leeds.

Look for the registration, then ask your mother if the first name rings any bells

Perhaps the son went to live with his father when the parents divorced............

Hi Reggie

I have spoken to my mum regarding Elsie having a son and she said she never had a son that lived with them, she said Elsie had a daughter to her first husband William Simpson who she June 1941in Leeds. My mum was only little but she can remember her grandmother been very angry about the marriage and that her grandmother had said Elsie was loose. I never thought of trying to find any of Elsies siblings as I haven't any info on her? what I really want to find out is if they went to live in Australia or if it was all a lie and they just vanished because of the family fall out.

Mum said they all new that they went to Australia on the £10 pom scheme according to mum. We can't get any of this clarified because of Grans state mind, I really should have started this tree years ago when my gran was ok. Thank you for taking the time to reply, I do find this really hard sometimes as my gran is the last surviving family member I no of.

One of them may have had contact after the emigration................

You have Elsie in your GR tree with birth year 1925.............did you just guess?

This is her birth............

Always use the following site to get factual info

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

There is another GR member looking at this person.....with the correct birth year.

Look in 'search all trees'..........and contact her
