Thanks Chris.
yes, have info on all the family except the elusive Sophia in 1851 & her brother (my gg grandfather ) in 1861, but it appears that the census for where they were living is missing.
Just my luck. :-|

yes, that´s the marriage Stuart.
As I said, no idea why they didn´t marry until 1867 when they were already living together in 1861, & had John´s 2 children with them.
Think on the later censuses they are recorded as Bridges. Have sent amendments but only in the last 24 hours.
Sorry, the surname IS Bridger. Don´t know where I got Brooker from.
Put it down to senility.

The only Sophia Howlett marriage I can see in 1867 is Bethnal Green to John Bridger (other male Henry Wiggins.)

There is a John and Sophia Bridger on the 1871 in Whitechapel.

Only looking for clues and I couldn't find a Sophia Brooker anywhere you mentioned?

Suppose Elliot & Howlett are fairly similar. I´ll take a look, but don´t think so because she gives Thorpe as her birthplace on all the other censuses.
She was born howlett & married as a spinster in the name of Howlett, so pretty sure she hadn´t been previously married.

Please can someone spot this lady on the 1851 census. I suspect she was working somewhere as a servant, as were her 2 sisters.
She was born 1836 in Thorpe le Soken Essex.
Have her on the 1841 census.
1851 her mother is living with Sophia´s brother & sister in law in Newington, with various other family members. She is not with them.
1861 she is recorded as wife of John Brooker...sorry, should be Bridger..... although they didn´t marry until 1867.
John´s 1st wife died in 1858 so dont know why the delay.
1871 John & Sophia are together in Whitechapel
1881 they are together in Bethnal Green.
Sophia died 1882 Bethnal Green.
The couple had no children although John had 2 from his 1st marriage, John in 1851 & Emily in 1854.
Have gone cross eyed looking for Sophia in 1851.
Anyone got sharper eyes than me?
