you wrote ...............

" The Plot is thickened by the fact that per his Death Certificate ,he died in June 1957 Aged 38 but per his Marriage Certificate he was 30 when married in Feb 1948.So there is a conflict in the two Certificates making his Birth between June 1918 and Feb 1920. "

....................

there is no real problem here.

someone putting the age 30 on a marriage certificate on 21 Feb 1948, could be anywhere from 30 + 1 day to 30 + 364 days ...................

meaning born anywhere between February 22 1917 to February 20 1918

Someone who died age 38 in June 1957, just over 9 years later could have been anywhere from age 38 + 3 months to 38 + 8 or 9 months

meaning born anywhere between 1916 to 1918

It all depends on his birth date vs the dates of the other events.

One other factor that could come into play, would if he had increased his age by 1 or 2 years when he got married!

I meant your PARENTS' marriage cert................which you say you have

Scottish marriage certs name both sets of parents IN FULL

If your father didn't name his parents, he didn't know who they were.

Reggie, many thanks, I dont have my Grand parents on my Fathers side Marriage Certificate. My fathers Marriage Cert I have. The Connection with Birkenhead is via my mother. She grew up un Ruthin,North Wales & went to Liverpool Nurses college.Mother & Father then married in Elgin Morayshire Scotland 0n 21/02/48.
They then resided in Birkenhead until his death.
If as the evidence now suggest, my father was possibly born in Bangor and his Mothers Name was Ellen Roberts. Roberts is Welsh of course - So I think my father may well have been born in Wales somewhere -possibly Bangor.
Presently checking out an Ellen Roberts aged 19 1n 1911 census born 1892,in Wrexham and a servant at Cloverly Farm in Whitchurch .
Regards
Peter

As you know the EXACT date of his marriage, you must have the cert.....ergo: you know who he named as his parents, so I don't understand why you say you 'believe' they were etc.............

Why are you doubting the location of their marriage?

Why shouldn't they have married in Birkenhead?

Waiting on the arrival of two Birth Certs for William Jones Born Bangor 1919,11b/588 and Same name & Place in 1920 11b /838.So, If he turns out to be Born in Bangor .Going back to my first observations , I doubt that his parents would have married in Birkenhead in 1917, More likely somewhere in North Wales.

Peter in your opening post you said William Robert Jones mother was Ellen Jones formerly Roberts.

I looked on freebmd for a birth of a Will Jones with mothers maiden name Roberts

the same birth form cheshire bmd

Cheshire Birth indexes for the years: 1918 to 1920
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Mother's Maiden Name Reference
JONES William Birkenhead Wirral ROBERTS BIR/286/39

Astra,He is not 8a 584 because that persons mothers Maiden Surname is Jones. His Mother is Roberts. (good Call though.). The Plot is thickened by the fact that per his Death Certificate ,he died in June 1957 Aged 38 but per his Marriage Certificate he was 30 when married in Feb 1948.So there is a conflict in the two Certificates making his Birth between June 1918 and Feb 1920.
Also, Ann,not sure how you have pinpointed 8a 666.Cannot find him.Was his mother a Roberts?Agree the theory that the name Robert may have been added later.

could the Robert bit have been added later?
