Just for background, that 1901 said he was married and was a general labourer ...

EDIT: Could you tell us who he was married to, and if there were any children?

Have you ruled out the one b 1873 with wife Annie living in Cheshire

Rule this one out as with his wife in 1901

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 10 Mar 2013 15:21

The one married to Annie is with her in Cheshire in 1901 and isn't in prison .....

..... unless she said he was at home?

In case it's the same chap:

Yorkshire Evening Post - 5 December 1899

At the Leeds assizes this afternoon, Thomas Egan (28), labourer, was found guilty on a charge of violently assaulting Robert Goodall, at Bradford, on September 27th.
He was committed to penal servitude for five years.

GlitterBaby Report 10 Mar 2013 15:33

Unless David has found the wife and children in 1901 and Thomas not being at home presumed he is the one in prison
