Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone.

I wonder if anyone can help me. I am looking for the parents of John Marks Orpwood who was born 19/5/1905 in London, Poplar, he married Ellen May Bull in 1927.

I have been given some information that his parents could be Albert Orpwood and Alice Orpwood (I cannot find her maiden name) but I am really struggling to find any documents. I am new to this and all websites I try to use all want money and it is begining to cost me a small fortune.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hayley, having looked at the 1911 census, I am wondering if we have got the right family. Although the WW1 record ties up with some of the children in the 1911, the marriage in 1902 doesn't agree with the census and on the image of the 1911, he looks like W Albert, not Mr Albert. I think we need to do some more searching.

Just checked the Army record, and Alice (Lilian) was born in February 1900 - so before the marriage and Albert has served in the Army before.

Think we have the correct family - just wish we could find them in 1901! Perhaps Albert was in the Army then. Could somebody with FMP see if there is an Army record on ther for him? He served in the 3rd Royal Fusiliers.
