You'll have to purchase the DC from

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ for £9.25.

Do you have James Maddison's death index ref? Depending on when he died, the certificate might give his dob and place of birth.

EDIT - you say you don't. Do you have a copy of the MC? That would give an age at the time of the event (if he was honest), his father's name and occupation and his own occupation. The witnesses might be from 'his side' of the family

Or were you only interested in his descendents, one of whom might have registered Rita's death

How do I find out who registed Rita's death?
I have only found out by using both GR and Ancestry

I am looking for the family of James Maddison.

He married my grandmother's sister Margarita Potts in the Castle Ward area of Northumberland in 1941.

Margarita or known as Rita was born 1922 and died 2001.

I am not a hundred percent sure but when I checked FreeBMD, it looks as though they had 2 boys James born 1942 and George born 1946, both born in the Northumberland area.

James, I think was born about 1919 and have no record of where he was born and died.

If anybody can help that will be much appreciated. :-)
