Dea Report 14 Mar 2013 13:59

Looking at others with the same surname, it is likely that she, or her family originated in Jersey?

Dea x

jansmith Report 14 Mar 2013 14:26

not sure but I think if known then place of birth may be on the death cert?

Thelma Report 14 Mar 2013 15:19

Have you looked at the electoral roles on Ancestry, she may be with family.
London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965

Edna May Leduc
1929 - city
She appears five/ six times.

Mary Report 14 Mar 2013 15:22

Frederick Charles Tuck married Violet lillian Terry in 1917
This is who Edna is with on the electoral records.

A tree on Ancestry has her born in Jersey.

Danetree Report 14 Mar 2013 15:34

You are correct, the Tuck children grew up with Edna but she was a mystery and still is. The tree on Ancestry is a good chance of being mine. And Jersey is a guess, as the
surname sounds french.

Dea Report 14 Mar 2013 15:44

Just had a thought - there is a very helpful person on here who does look ups in Jersey - she may be able to find a Parish record ???

Her board name is Jersey Lily.

Grand-daughter is about to arrive but if no-one else has found her by then, I will see if I can locate her this evening.

Dea x

Danetree Report 14 Mar 2013 16:25

Thanks - Jersey looks a good bet

Dea Report 14 Mar 2013 20:55

Sorry Danetree - can't find her at the moment but have sent out an SOS.

Will come back when I locate her!

Dea x

MarieCeleste Report 14 Mar 2013 21:04

Hello, was Leduc her maiden name or had she been previously married?

Danetree Report 14 Mar 2013 21:57

Recorded on the 1917 electoral role as Leduc
Born 11/01/1907. Married name Chrisell only married the once in Edmonton/ Enfield 1937
Douglas Crisell. My reason for this search is that my relation grew up with Edna in the house, and only wondered about the connection later in life. That relation is now 93yrs and would love to find an answer.

MarieCeleste Report 14 Mar 2013 22:06

If she was born in 1907 she would not be recorded on a 1917 electoral roll as she would be nowhere near old enough to vote! That must be the 1937?

Was Edna May already in the household when your relative was born?

Did she and Douglas have children? (If so I guess you've already checked her maiden name on their birth records).

Kay???? Report 14 Mar 2013 22:11

If you have her marriage certificate it could state who her father was and what his living was,,,

Was he in the army?

Jersey doesnt have BDM online but the local history may be of help.

The surname features often on passenger lists to and from Canada that could be another possiblity.

Do you know who registered her death and know whether or not her birthplace is shown?

If it is an overseas birth though, only country is likely to be indicated rather than actual birthplace.

Reggie Report 15 Mar 2013 09:21

Perhaps Edna was some sort of servant?

But the certs are the way to try to get some facts.

Reggie Report 15 Mar 2013 09:36

She does not appear on the 1911 census for Jersey

Danetree Report 15 Mar 2013 10:33

Thanks to everyone for your efforts, already checked probate - nothing there. As you all say - go the certs way.
I'll send for them and see what transpires
