Hi MarieCeleste

I think you meant to say "Patricia" and I too hope she hasn't been put off asking for help.
There are so many wonderful people on GR that are willing to help anyone with a question, and just a few that spoil it all by being so curt and rude --its the latter people who are NOT helping GR to promote this site for the better, and are upsetting people so much that they are scared to post anything on the boards, (this includes older members as well as new members !)

I guess many of you will have had this e-mail from GR
==============
Dear Barbara,

As one of our expert users, you know the ins and outs of our website better than most. Do you have a friend or family member who might enjoy starting their family research with us?

Invite them to join before the end of June, and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a delicious Fortnum & Mason hamper worth £200.

===================
Well I used to promote this site, many years ago, as much as possable, but until GR get their "act" together and stop (or at least warn) the "Board police" "Board Bullys" (or whatever you want to call them) that they will not tolerate rude and Unnecessary behaviour towards other members, then I won't invite / advise anyone else to join GR in the near future --so I guess I won't be in for a chance of the " delicious Fortnum & Mason hamper worth £200" LOL !!!

Keep up the great work everyone, why should one or two spoil it for the rest of us.

All best wishes
Barbara x

I do hope Barbara hasn't been put off further posting by one narrow minded little numpty. These boards are about HELPING people, not scaring them off.

I had a pm from Patricia yesterday saying that the name Esme was on her father's death certificate. Not sure how she knows the exact birth date though.

Patricia...I echo Barbara and Patchem's comments. You have NOT done anything wrong.

Your original post was referred for review and I cannot for the life of me understand why. The only possible reason that I could surmise was that Joyce could possibly still be alive and that if she did indeed have any children who would be siblings of a sort that they, almost certainly, would be.

Whichever sad-minded person who rr'd it, they should at the very least be made to identify themselves and say why!

The keys to this very interesting conundrum are how you know she was Joyce Esme for sure and how you know the date of birth for sure.

So do let us know and we can maybe work out which of the possibilities we have found is her :-)

Hi Patricia
You have done nothing wrong, and everyone who has posted on your thread doesn't think you have either.

Someone, don't know who,had reported your opening post, but GR has put it back on, so that proves there isn't anything to offend anyone.

What has mostly been said, is that if anyone "reports" a post then that person should own up it and say WHY they reported it. I , personaly think that if someone reports a posting then their "boardname" should come up automatically, but it doesn't.

So please DO NOT let anyone upset you Patricia, as I said you haven't done anything wrong, and please don't let one "finger happy reporter" put you off posting,

You just have to remember that there are so many good people on here that will do their best to help, (everyone who has posted on here was defending you, Patricia, not criticising you)

thank goodness only one or two that think it's OK to upset someone, by their actions or remarks.( ie by reporting a posting and not saying why)

All the best
Barbara x

Sorry, patchem , I must have been typing when you posted, you have explained it a lot better than I could have, Thank you.

Patricia,

You have not upset us.

The person who really annoys us is the person who reports the post anonymously. If they think you have done something wrong we believe they should acknowledge who they are and ask you to correct your mistake.

As your post has been re-instated then genes does not believe that you have done anything against the terms and conditions of the site.

So, could you say where you have found her middle name as we cannot see a birth in that name.

Thank-you.

Patricia

I'm sorry but I am in the dark about what I have done wrong. If you could explain, so that I don't do it again, I would appreciate that. Obviously I have upset a lot of people. I found the good thing about this site was that they offered good advice and keep you on the right tracks. To anyone I have offended, I apologise. I will not submit further items about this person.

Hi Everyone,

I soooo agree,--- but why doesn't GR just put the boardname of someone who has reported a thread--and the reason they give ?

as Gins says "If there is a genuine reason for reporting a thread, then there is no problem with adding your name and the reason for reporting a post "
I, and others, have asked this many times before --but to no avail !!!

Yeah, I notice that GR have reinstated the opening post.

So it's 7.48pm Friday 15th March here so I wonder how long it will take
for the board police to RR the thread again.

Hopefully they aren't game to hit the button.

The board police have struck again.

Gins, they won't put their hands up and admit to reporting the post as they are
gutless and happy to hide behind the Report button.

RRd again.........

If GR reinstated the OP, why has it been reported a second time?

Surely they will just reinstate it again

Who ever has the 'itchy' finger could at least post the reason why

patchem

patchem Report 14 Mar 2013 19:29

The full date of birth stays for all to see unless genes removes the whole post fairly quickly so the rr'er has not achieved what they wanted.
So it would have been better for Patricia to have been asked to remove it from the title.
Patricia has returned and posted replies so the rr'er could have explained the problem.

original posting -

Does anyone have information about JOYCE ESME WOOD nee BRADDER? Her birth date is **/*/1927. She was possibly married prior to being called Bradder and possibly remarried after being married to JOHN ARTHUR WOOD who was my father. J.A.Wood born 11/2/1921 in Carlisle and died in London 1976; he worked as a security guard. Did she have children? Joyce and John were known to have lived in the Rotherham area.
I know that at the time of John's death they lived at 60 Milson Road London w14.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

EDIT - have removed date of birth

but obviously still in heading!
