Thank you all This doesnt make sense. If Andrew is married by 1871 and Albert E Shield is living with Thomas and Jane Shield in 1871 How can Albert be his step son and who is Andrew married to

Can't find a death for Thomas Shield, or for Sarah Lorimer for that matter.
Perhaps Andrew Lorimer and Jane Shield just started living together?

Found a death in Sunderland for Thomas Lowrie Shield in June qt 1869 age 28
One of Janes children is called Jessie Tomlinson Lorimer

Still odd one of Janes children is Jessie Tomlinson Lorimer
On the 1901 census Jane says she is born in Carlisle
