Find Ancestors

Margaret Bennett was born in St. Lukes, county of Middlesex 1857. Her father was William Benjamin Bennett (a Blacksmith by trade I think), he married Eliza Ann Lockett, born abt 1828 in Lambeth London, I think. Now, the big mystery is were Ann's parents from Manchester/Lancashire: John Lockett/Sarah Collins ? I think John Lockett was a hat maker. I have looked for this info, but can't find the info.

EDIT: Eliza was a widow, and her father John Lockett a hatter. Witnesses were Henry Bilby & Catherine Smith, so not much help there.

Record describes father John as a hatter.

The Clara, I think is a spelling mistake, it is really: Eliza. Well I have the birth C, and her first name is not Clara.

Graham, can I just ask you how you came by Margaret in the first place - is she your direct ancestor, and if so, do you have details of her marriage? Just wondering how you got to the information you have put above.

1861 is clear as Clara so the enumerator must have transferred the info wrong then

I can't read the full description of his occupation on the image, but it starts with 'hat' and he and Sarah are described as born in county (Surrey).

IN 1891, Eliza A Barton, who married in 1874 as widowed Eliza Ann Bennett with father John Lockett, a hatter, in the marriage I posted earlier in the thread, also gives her birthplace as Lambeth, c 1828.
