Hi Ken

You are not a pain at all. We all had to start somewhere and it's not easy when you first start out and don't quite know what you are doing. Trust me, i know!! :-)

You just need to write down the details from the other members tree and then add it to your tree.

The details on the 1911 census are more likely to be correct because it was filled in by a member of the household rather than an enumerator who filled in the 1841--1901 census forms.

But then again........you never know!!!

Don't be afraid to ask for any help on here........there are always members who are more than willing to give you a helping hand.

Prickles.

PricklyHolly and Patchem,
sorry to be a pain......I had a response from a girl named Paula who gave me permission to view her tree.....it has about 6 people to go onto my family tree......I clicked onto add and they have been put onto a clipboard.......I don't know how to transfer them, or do I just have to write down the info onto a pad and then enter each one via the keyboard afterwards? If I become too demanding just tell me so.....I will get the routine eventually !!! ..........Ken
The Emily Williams and the Rachel Williams both fit in perfectly so I will send off for those birth certificates...........Meanwhile Thomas Williams born 1874 and Charlotte Williams his wife born 1883 are definately the parents of Emily and Rachel as there are four other children who fit chrologically into that timely. The one slight confusion comes from the disparity of the 1901 and 1911 censuses, but the places fit, so I will keep working on that. Thanks to both of you......Ken

No luck here Patchem.

To be able to go back further Ken, i think it would be in your best interest to purchase a copy of one of the children's birth certificate's to confirm the Mother's maiden name.

Once you have that, we will know if we are on the right track with the Williams/Summers marriage.

And then a copy of the marriage certificate will hopefully give you information as to who Thomas and his wife's Fathers were and their occupations.

As Thomas Wiliams is such a common name and the fact that we don't actually know where he was born, due to the fact that his place of birth differs on the 1901 and 1911 census.........

Unless of course you know who Thomas's parents were??

The best place to purchase certificates in online here.......

www.gro.gov.uk/

Unfortunately, it wiil set you back £9.25 per certificate.

I'm not hot on areas of Wales.........so might this be Emily's birth reg....

PricklyHolly,
Have you got a birth for her from free bmd, to try to pin down her in 1891 and possibly 1881.

Have you looked for their marriage for Charlotte's maiden name - or have you a birth certificate of one of the children?
Once you know their names and years of birth you can look to see if anyone else on here has them in their trees by using the Search Tab/ Search All Trees, above.

To find out if anyone else is researching this family have you tried "Search All Trees" under the Search button above?

You can put the names of the family in and see if anyone else has them.

If you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.

I would suggest that you delete the automatic message about looking at their tree. Most members will not open their trees to you until a connection has been established so just type your own message about who you think you may have in common.

I an trying to find anyone related to Thomas Williams b.1874? and his wife Charlotte b.1883? They lived in Morriston,Swansea .... but later moved to Merthyr with about 8 or so children. I think Charlotte was born in Aber?
Almost certainly lived in Trevethick Street at some time. Probably married about 1898 - to 1900 as the 1911 census says they had been married about 11 years, their first daughter was named Charlotte Ann.
