Just spoke with my cousin and the church records show that James Stevens married Elizabeth Quick Ninnis in March 1907.
Thanks everyone for your help - it has helped me enormously.
Now need to sort out which were and were not their children!

Have you purchased any certs yet to prove or otherwise the information posted by helpers on this thread

When you buy the birth cert and marriage cert it would be nice to know if any information posted by the helpers on this thread was correct

Elizabeth's sister Wilmot Gyles Stevens ( wife of Matthew Stevens) died 25th March 1955 and left £2192.15s 5d

I will go back to my relative in St Ives who has done most of the family research - his father who was the nephew of James Stevens was adamant that they only had the four children.

I think this is the right Honor Stevens ( but you still need to check if she was Elizabeth's or Wimlot's daughter, as they both married a Mr Stevens)

Wilmot Gyles Ninnis was Elizabeth Quick Ninnis's sister ... who also married a Stevens ... so some of those births for Stevens/ Ninnis could be for Wilmot's children

If the 1911 census is the correct family then buy the birth cert to confirm the name of the mother and then buy the marriage cert

So have you found a marriage that the helpers have not found ?

Already said the Elizabeth Q marriage was in 1907

Why not get the marriage cert

jax

jax Report 19 Mar 2013 22:29

If you have been given this info by someone,,,have you made any effort to find the marriage yourself?

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 19 Mar 2013 22:28

Two reasons for showing a middle initial of Q on the census

1. not married and that actually is her surname
2. it really is her middle name

So what is her maiden name ?

David

David Report 19 Mar 2013 22:26

From the info given to me they were married in 1907 and Elizabeth's surname was Quick.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 19 Mar 2013 22:24

If the people in the 1911 census already posted are the right ones, then her middle name does begin with Q

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 19 Mar 2013 22:23

Why?

what is her name from the marriage cert ?

Would help us find the right children
