Newspaper Family Notice

Edward Report 20 Mar 2013 14:45

Hello

After much researching, I came across a family notice in the Newspaper archive section for 'Chester Chronicle' Feb 1814 that relates to my ancestor. Breifly> Mrs Nickson (no first name) late of Chorley Stock, mother of Mr Nickson, upholster, Chester.
Have been to library, Chester, looked up parish records and bishops transcripts for burials, nothing found. Also NBI , IGI, Ancestry ete.
Looked here again on newspapers and see an entry for the 'Chester Courant' Feb 1814. It only gives a hint without buying credits, but it looks as though may same.
I really am up against the proverbial 'brickwall with this one.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Thank you.
Ed

Thank you all for your replies, it's very kind of you.
Re the Macclesfield entry, I had seen that one, but my one died in Chester. Shame as the dates tied in.
The entry in the Courant is the same as the Chronicle, it's a shame they did not give a first name.
I am trying to go back in my tree. I have loads of info on my Samuel Nickson Chester, 1772, he was a business man in Chester. Ihave all his family details ete, but I can't locate his parents or birth.

Edward - was your Samuel Nickson the auctioneer who died 30 May 1847?

(Just from what's in the BNA)

Hello

Yes, this is the Samuel Nickson you mention.

Thanks Eddie, the reason I was asking was there are quite a few articles about him in the newspaper archives (I have a sub). Sadly none of them relate to his birth or marriage, they're mainly business related.

I'll look up a selection but it probably won't be tonight.

Thanks again for your reply. I have seen a number of these and they are advertisements for his business as an auctioneer.
I have details of his marriage to Mary Whalley in 1802.

Thank you.
