Help please!
I am trying to obtain some details of a Mr. Warting Riding. He shows on the 1881 Census, living with his mother, Elizabeth Riding. At present I cannot find, father, birth date, marriage or date of death. I have never come across this name previously but maybe it is a miss-spelling, but if so what is it.
Can anybody offer some guidance please.

The 1911 for Whittingham looks like Wh on the original image (which could be short for Wharton )

Or I suppose it could be WL ( they are not initials but joined together) for William.

As the birthplace is given as Nelson that would come under Burnley district so may be this man

Would be worth buying the 1917 death cert for Wharton Riding to see if he died in Whittingham hospital

Thanks so very much for the details. I have taken a quick look at the LDS site and it is like walking into Aladdins cave, the vast amount of info. Now I can find a lot of the answers myself. I will order up a copy of the death cert as this will confirm one way or another. Well worth it for the cost.
