The reason why I had originally forgotton where I found Smith as grandmother's maiden name is because I have been working on other family trees recently.

When I looked into the free bmd I found Frederick Baker's name in the year that he was born and his mother's maiden name was Smith. My husband knows that he was born in Devizes.

Because my husband moved away from Wiltshire at a young age the family were not on very good terms he cannot remember his grandmother's maiden name.

Does he remember her first name - it may help in finding their marriage?

I husband does not remember her first name, I have been going through the marriage section but so far I have not had much luck. I am still trying though.
