I have an ancester JOHN BEARD who married a PRISCILLA KITCHEN
in LONDON in October 1762. (I have a print out given by a friend from Ancestry).

Would it be possible for anyone to find out anymore about John and Priscilla..i.e. their parents, date of births etc.....siblings?

I know it is not easy as there must be hundreds of John Beards, plus it is
going back a way, but someone may have that magic touch for finding out the impossible, the name Priscilla is not quite as common!!

Many thanks for any help.

No problem Sandra

It does look like 'Hitchen' on the marriage entry. Do you know if there are any siblings to the couple?

Hollyhocks Report 21 Mar 2013 17:01

Hi Gins

I have just been looking on the site and have found 5
siblings..........Ann, Thomas Dawsn, Mary, William and John.

Priscilla was 1738 , the last was Thomas in 1750.

Thank you

I think John Beard is going to be very hard to trace back any further due
to being such a common name.

Might have to take a trip to the London Archives to get back any further!!

I'm trying to extend my family tree but I'm stuck.
I know my g.g.g.granddad was John Maples born 1790 in Egmanton Nottingham married to Hannah Hodgkinson. I also know there is a house in Egmanton on Kirton road called Stone House and above the door carved in stone is the inscription "Richard Mapals 1734"
The reason I know this is my ancestor is. My maiden name was Mapals. My G.granddad William Maples-- as the story told by my dad Harry Mapals--changed the spelling from Maples to Mapals saying he had seen it carved in stone and that's the way it would be spelt. According to English heritage Richard Mapals who built Stone House got into financial difficulties and hung himself . Could the spelling have been changed because of the embarrasment of Richard hanging himself, I do'nt know. I can't fill the gap between Richard and John or find the Mapals line before Richard. Any help would be apprieciated. Thankyou
