having problem logging into my Scotlands people this morning Please can anyone help locate Douglas Bannan born around 1920-1925 in Scotland and married spouse with maiden name of Shanklin (They had 3 children) 2 sons and 1 daughter Many Thanks Pam

thats very strange prety sure born scotland. One of the sons was born and lived in Scotland until he was 28 The daughter still lives in Scotland but dont know name. May be able to give place in Scotland later i think i may have it written down Thanks for trying Pam

There's a Douglas Bannon, born 1930, in Calton (Glasgow) - GROS data 644/03 1037.

The only Bannon (or variant) marriage in Scotland between 1945 and 1970 is one between Douglas Bannon and Rosina Moran Daly, in 1957, in Govan. GROS data 644/10 0612.

None to a Shanklin.

Even using that slightly different spelling of surname there is not a match for a marriage to Shanklin

There are 23 births of Bannon children in the Glasgow area between 1957 and 1970, but no mms given.

But there is a birth in 1921 in Yorkshire for a Douglas Bannon

Oops he died in 1956 in Yorkshire so rule him out

Linda, 1961, Govan;
Stephen 1964, Glasgow South.

No English marriages between a Bannan and a Shanklin (including phonetic search surnames) between 1945 and 1960, either. (Per FreeBMD)

I think that there is a possibility that the surname you are looking for is Bannon not Bannan.
Bannon is a surname of Irish origin & there were many Irish immigrants who came to Glasgow from Ireland in the 1920's
As you have been already informed there is a registered birth for a Douglas Bannon born in Glasgow who married a Rosina Moran Daly in 1957.
Douglas died in Glasgow in 1997.
There is an area in Belfast, Northern Ireland called the Shanklin.
Could you be confusing this with Douglas' wife's maiden name.
You may have to buy a copy of his death certificate to confirm my theory.
Rosina died in 1992.
This may either open or close a door for you

Just to confirm Dougie's findings
I also entered this woman onto a death search on SP
Rosina Moran Bannon. Other name: Daly ( exact names)
Death Registered in Martha Street , Glasgow 1992.
Recorded as 57 years at time of death
