According to Family Search John Joseph MOWFORTH married a Catherine Davies at St Mary's, Kirkdale, Lancashire on 29th July 1917. I am doing a one name study on the surname MOWFORTH and would love details of this marriage to confirm who this John Joseph is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the information. I have only one John Joseph Mowforth in my study who as you have stated, was born in Durham on 21st Dec 1854 to parents John Mowforth and Frances Eleanor Webster. He married Florence Bertha Wills on 29th January 1927 in Elwood, Australia. John died on 17th November 1954 Yarram, Victoria, Australia. I have his Australian attestation papers that show him returning from the UK to Australia in June 1917, suffering from anaemia, with no mention of a wife etc mentioned on his record. This is the reason I would like the details of the marriage record in July 1917 to prove who that John Joseph Mowforth is as I have no record of any others.

Can't see the 1917 marriage in the records.....

Thanks to everyone for their advice. At least now I know that the John Joseph I have didn't marry in Lancashire.he didn't appear in the GROMarriage index but I thought perhaps it had been missed. I thought wrongly that the record on Family Search was part of their extraction programme and not a private submission. Thanks to you all for your speedy assistance. I'm grateful. I am already aware of all the Mowforth trees. Many have been taken from other trees and not original research. The Mowforth name is fairly rare and I've checked all the original records were possible. Thanks !
