A friends grandfather, Chester Donald Robertson, was born in Canada, in Toronto it is thought on August 26th 1916 can anyone help me sort this for a very nice lady.

Thanks a million and apologies for only giving half the story last time.

Canada has a 92 y closure on the 1921 census, and Ontario has a 97 y closure on births, so both those records are closed until Jan 2014. I don't know if the b.cert is closed for grandchildren.

I don't know if your friend's grandad was a Canadian WW2 vet - if so, then check out:

Does your friend know his father's name, perhaps from Chester's marriage certificate if he married in the UK?
