Please can anyone find any info for me on the twin brother of my late grandmother? I don't have a living relative I can ask. My grandmother was Lily Blackshaw. Lily and Albert were born 1886 Hunslet, Leeds. I cannot find a marriage for Albert, nor any children or a death on any of the usual websites. Albert appears on the census of 1901 age 15.
Similarly I cannot find marriages, deaths etc for his three older brothers: Frederick, born 1873, Walter, born 1876 and Arthur, born 1882. I do know that eldest child, Emily Blackshaw, born 1871, married and emigrated to the USA and I am researching her family at the moment. Thanks :-)

Hi Stuart,
Many thanks for that. I have seen this census result before. After that the remaining family appear in the 1901 Census. Of course I know that my Grandmother, Lily Blackshaw, married James Henry Annal but her twin, Albert I never knew anything about him. My grandmother died in 1965 when I was very young but I am sure Albert was gone before I was born (1957) as he was hardly ever mentioned and I only realised he was my grans twin through recent research! I suppose many people didn't complete their census forms and I am wondering if that's why the rest of the family don't show up?
Cheers, John

John
posting census gives the helpers points of reference from which to work, we don't know your family, so need as much information as possible to start us off.

A good website with free records of bmd's from Sep Qtr 1837 to approx 1950/60 - an on going project and not all yet transcribed up to date

have looked at possible deaths for albert also
i
looked at all the birth,s of albert blackshaw,s born about the right year as put on census although sometimes not correct

Births Mar 1886 (>99%)
BLACKSHAW Albert Hanslet 9b 291

and this could be a possible death for him as the year of birt on this one is given 1884 its the only possible one that fits the right time frame but would need death cert to comfirm

Name: Albert Blackshaw
Birth Date: abt 1884
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1921

Thanks Stuart, Flip, Jacky,
This helps loads. I reckon Fred is the one that sadly died aged 18 and Walter died aged 19. From what I can gather in the light of this new info, Arthurs two sons also died young. John Clifford Blackshaw died aged 45 and his brother died at only 7 years old. John C was possibly married. I vaguely recollect my grandmothers family having illness and tragedy somewhere in their past. How sad!
Thanks again guys I am very grateful for this :-)
