P.S.
I think all the grandparents had died, so that is a no no.
Violet had a sister, but I have tried to find out bits there, with no luck.

Hi Gwyn,
Thanks for your messages.

Well, the death is correct for Violet Baverstock, but Samuel died, and Violet married his brother - my Grandfather Robert Baverstock in Nov 1919, Joyce was born in Dec 1919. !!!!!!!!

Joyce did marry twice, (her first husband died0, that was in Eastbourne, so no Cardiff address, she has really given me the run around !!!!!! :-S :-S :-S

I have tried finding her husbands family, that is an ongoing event !!!!!
The problem I have is because I have different names I can't put it all under Joyce, that's why different questions crop up with different surnames but with Joyce in there too. !!!!!!!!!

Did Joyce marry and if so did she give a home address as that of some of her relatives?

This might give a clue to her early years if she had always stayed with them.

When did her maternal grandparents die?
Could they have raised her ?

Is this the marriage of Joyce's parents ?

Marriages Dec 1916

Andrews Violet M ...Baverstock ...Cardiff 11a 656
Baverstock Samuel J ...Andrews ...Cardiff 11a 656

and her early death...?

Deaths Dec 1921

Baverstock Violet M ..27 ..Cardiff 11a 392

If so, perhaps she went to live with someone from her mother's family ?

for the record I think the top address is a council house and the other two are private

Many thanks Ann, I will have a look at the addresses you have given me.

JAN - I have now taken off the other thread, it did have the names Oswald and Ruth, as well as others on it, it should make things more simple
:-S
The thing is I don't know who looked after Joyce when she lost her mother, I am trying to narrow it down.
Any info would be great.

Regards
Sally

Have you got their marriage cert? Not sure from what you say if these are the family members who took Joyce in. Still not sure what info you are after regarding them.
I won't go further as it looks like you have another thread on the family!

Hi Jan,

Well ------ I am trying to find info on Oswald DAVIES and Ruth Winifred DAVIES Nee Baverstock
They married in 1924 in Cardiff.

I am still trying to get info re early years on my Aunt, (Joyce Violet BAVERSTOCK)her mother died when she was about 2, and she was taken in by family members -didn't live with her father and NOT adopted, still with the name Baverstock, Ruth was her Aunt, Oswald and Ruth didn't have any children.

I really want to find school records for Joyce, but until I find where she lived I stand NO chance.

I am trying all the ways I can think of. :-)

Many thanks
Sally

Hardly anyone had a phone back then Sally, unfortunately. But worth a try!
I would contact the library and see what is possible - as far as I can tell you can't search this area by name, though there are one or two places outside London where you can, so worth asking.
You might try to find 'AnnCardiff', she posts on here regularly and will probably know the answer.
Otherwise the only way you can get an address is from birth, marriage and death certs, or by looking at 1911 census and hoping they didn't move!
What sort of info were you hoping to find?

Hi Sally.
These normally have to be accessed in person, or by the staff working at the archives. This is usually at the nearest main library.
Remember you can only search by address, and info will be limited - with few exceptions, just names of males over 21 and women over 30.
