Hi
Please help if you can the earliest information on Patrick Joseph Emmett is from the 1861 household census.
What i am trying to find out is when he came to England or any information on him before 1861.
I know this is a challenging request but any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
I have the same problem with Irish ancesters many came over during the potato famine in the middle 1840's without any record of them arriving here and sad to say that a fire in 1922 in Dublin records office destoyed all records up to 1851, according to Ancestry he came from Galway so maybe the local church there may be able to help you - good luck.

I suggest you get the marriage cert, at least then you will have his father's name. If you wish to be sure of Elizabeth's surname then get a birth cert for a child first.
I can't see him 1851, so if the marriage is correct he probably came over 1851-59. You probably know there are no passenger lists for Ireland-England, as it was part of the UK.
