I am searching for James Gordon born 12th February 1862 who joined the 4th Battalian Manchester Militia 9th June 1882 Private number 226. He is living at home on the 1881 census. No trace of him after that on any census forms. There was a story that he was killed in Pondicherry by a sniper in 1882. There is a James Gordon killed in Fyzabad in 1882 but he is 27years and has a different number.
If there is anyone of the Gordon Family of Gorton Manchester family who knows of him it would be brilliant. his sister Mary Gordon is my grandmother she was one of 11 children. Many thanks
