Thanks AnnCardiff. But does Sir Charles Hales really link to my family tree ? Edward Shrubsoll married Marie Hinderson, but what comes after that... anyway, I live in hope! :-)

Dennis or Denise Shrubsoll born abt 1629 parents were: Edward Shrubsoll and Marie Hinderson. Edward Shrubsoll parents I think were: Richard Shrubsoll and Dorothy Hales. Maybe correct, still not 100%, but getting there... lol

I just put "Sir CHarles Hales, Kent 1500s" in the search engine and found a stack of stuff - try it

Looking at the above info it seems a Dorothy (her first name speltd differently) Hales, did married a Shrubsole. So, perhaps it is correct/true after all. Still need to confirm it fully, but looking good at the moment.

I saw Dorothy's name in that tree above - not spelt quite like that though

So, to sum up: Edward Shrubsoll married Marie Hinderson in Kent, I know this part is correct. But Who were Edwards parents ? Richard Shrubsoll and Dorothy Hales ? Were here parents: Sir Charles Hales and Anne Honywood ? Going that far back is not easy to find this info.

There is much speculation amongst Hale genealogists of a family connection between Sir Charles HALES of Thanington and Deacon Robert HALE (see tree below), however I know of no documentary evidence proving this link. Research suggests that Sir Charles was definitely a HALES with an "S". Certainly John Burke's "Genealogical and Heraldic History of Extinct and Dormant Baronetcies of England, Ireland and Scotland" (published 1844) traces Sir Charles' family through to 1824 under the name HALES.
