If anyone has access to Irish records could they please help?

Looking for birth, census, or marriage for Annie Therese Cotter born 1883-1885 in Ardmooe, Waterford, Ireland. Father called Micheal Cotter.

From 1911 census in England Annie was married in 1906 to John Williams.
I cannot find this marriage, was it in Ireland?

Daughter Eileen Williams was born 1908 Newbridge, Kildare, Ireland.

Annie and John did marry in Woolwich, London, England in 1915.

Any help would be appreciated. Karen

Could do with some more help please.

If Anyone has got access to Irish Records could they please look on the 1891 census for this family.

Residents of a house 30 in Cross Street (Fermoy Urban, Cork) from 1901 Census

Micheal Cotter b. abt. 1840 Cork head
Kate b. abt 1843 Cork wife
Annie b. abt 1883 Cork dau
Mary b. abt 1877 Cork dau
Hannah b abt 1885 Cork dau. Hannah was not on the 1901 census but was on the 1911 census, I'm trying to establish if Annie and Hannah are sisters or the same person., and that this is Annie Cotter's family.

I have not been able to find the birth of Annie Therese Cotter in Cork Ireland abt 1883 Father's name is Michael Cotter.

Thanks

Oh dear :-(

Thanks.

I've had a look at those 1901 & 1911 census and there's a strong possibility that Annie and Hannah are the same person, those names are interchangeable and birth dates can be variable.

However, I don't think it would be your Annie's family if she was already in England in 1911?

EDIT: What was Michael's occupation on the marriage certificate? The one in Fermoy in 1911 was a mason.

The 1901/1911 Census shows all the Cotter family were born in the County Cork so this would not connect to your Annie Theresa b Ardmore in the Co Waterford...

What led you to the Co Cork Cotters' as a possibility....?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 27 Apr 2013 18:00

Karen, where did you get the middle name of Therese from as it's not on the 1915 marriage record or the 1911 English census?

Karen

Karen Report 27 Apr 2013 18:02

Hi Marie

I agree with you. I'm searching for a relative who seems to think that this the right family as he remembers talk of his Father's Aunt Hannah.

Annie was in England in 1911 but we don't know if the rest of her family stayed in Ireland.

Occupation on marriage certificate in 1915 General Labourer deceased.

Eringobragh
My relative was told Annie came from Youghal not sure if that is in the Ardmore Waterford district where she states on 1911 census. Fermoy isn't too far away from Cork so he seems too think it's possible.

Middle name is from relative.

Karen, I've been to Fermoy and it is in County Cork, about 25 miles from Cork itself.

Ardmore is about 30 miles from Fermoy and about 10 miles from Youghal.

Personally, I'd be concentrating on Waterford, not Cork.

I think the fact that Michael was a general labourer rules out the Fermoy man, who was a mason.

Did Annie die in Birmingham in 1951?

EDIT: Just checked my map and Youghal appears to be in Cork, whereas Ardmore is Waterford although they're not too far apart.

Just out of curiosity, is this her husband John in 1911?

Marie

Like I said I don't think it's the right family, just can't get anywhere at all with Annie's family.

Not sure when Annie died but think it was S.E London maybe Woolwich as I have found her on the electoral Reg. up to about 1940.

John Williams died in 1924 Bromley.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 27 Apr 2013 23:02

Hi Karen - the regiment number was just what was on the census.

They can change regiments - I'll have a shufti through service records and see if there's anything there.

Although Youghal is in County Cork it is on the border of Cork and Waterford,it was also the registration district for BMD in parts of Waterford which would also include Ardmore, Clashmore.

Edit.
Could these be connected to your Cotter's. ?
Taken from Griffiths Valuation 1848/68 for Ardmore.
Johanna Cotter , Lissarow, Ardmore.
John Cotter, Lissarow, Ardmore.
Patrick Cotter, Dysert, Ardmore.
