In the 1851 Census, you missed off one person from the household, namely, John Behan, Nephew. John Behan is my Great, Great Grandfather. His parents were Malachi Behan and Mary Ann Clark (Ann’s sister, hence the Nephew). Malachi and Mary Ann were married in Rotherham on 23rd April 1832. Mary Ann Clark was born on 2nd Nov 1817 at Cathedral St Peter, Sheffied. Parents were William Clark and Elizabeth. They had another daughter the previous year, Ann Clark on 10th Nov 1816, same place.
John Behan married Rhoda Savage on 20th Feb 1855 at Ecclesall Church. Witnesses were Joshua and Ann Bates.
Malachi and John Behan appear in the 1841 Census (but not Mary Ann) along with William and Elizabeth Clark aged 64 and 67 respectively. Don’t know when Mary Ann died.

Thank you very much for that, Tony.
I had not found a husband for Mary Ann.
Her parents were I think William Clark and Elizabeth GRANT, married on 21 June 1801 at Sheffield Cathedral.
Apart from Ann and Mary Ann they had a son Edwin (23/7/1803) and another son Thomas christened 2nd June 1816.
(I think you mean that Mary Ann was *christened+ in the Cathedral on 2nd November 1817 ;-) )
We must be distant cousins.

Hmm that's interesting, Mary's sister Ann and her husband Joshua Bates called their first son Septimus. It seems to have been a family name though I haven't found its origin yet.
I thought I had found a Septimus in Rotherham but I can't find the reference now. Thanks for the extra information, Tony.
