Find Ancestors

My G-G-G Grandfather Thomas Procter married Elizabeth Ross. Some of their children subsequently had Davis, Harrison, Ross in their names.
In the 1861 census Thomas Procter was residing in the household of John Ross. In the 1861 census Elizabeth Ross was in the household of Henry Harrison (it stated she was his niece),
I can see some sort of pattern with the surnames, but I just dont understand how it all ties together..
I am tracing my PROCTER roots back but it seems I have stumbled upon the Ross'. Can somebody assist me in making sense of it all. Pls. Thanks.How do I find out who were my G-G-G Grandfathers parents??
