Thank you both for that information. I have registered on Family Search and have already found answers to other ancesters which I had queries on. As you say MarieCeleste, it seems to be an invaluable site. |

Susan, as Mel says FamilySearch is a free site, you can register (which is also free) but it's not compulsory - you can just go on and search. |

Thanks for your help MarieCeleste, as you probably realised I am not a member of the Worldwide searches on Ancestry or Familysearch so anything you find is useful. Susan |

Yes, if any of Conrad's sisters (if he had any) come up it would help as one might be Marthe's mother. If Charlotte birth can be found that may help too as it may have the mothers name. |

Susan, I'm not finding any corresponding marriage anywhere but it only seems to be French banns on Ancestry, not actual marriages. Nothing coming up in England. |

Is there any way in which I can find out if this marriage did take place? Would it have taken place in France or London? Thank you |

Think this may be the uncle's marriage: |

Thanks for answering so quickly. It does sound as if this is the same Marthe as she was living in London at that time but the groom is different but as you say its Banns not marriage so perhaps one or other changed their minds. |

Marthe is my husband's gggrandmother who was born in France in 1866-67. Her father was Emile capet,a Tailor according to her marriage certificate. She married John Robert Alexander Russman in 1886 in Middlesex. I am trying to find out where abouts in France she lived and her mothers name. In 1881 she was living with an uncle Conrad Edward Zimdars so it is possible that her mother was a Zimdar. Marthe had an elder sister Charlotte Bertha Capet born in 1862. Any help would be great. |
