As Brummiejan says, you're best to get a copy of the death certificate, and see what information that gives.

Yer he did marry do not know his wifes name.
and there was children i think one was called john.
thats all i know about him.

Do you know if he had any children? There a quite a few possible marriages. The informant on the death cert may have been a relative, which would help.

As you know when he died, did you know him during his life? If not, I would get the death cert to see who registered it.

Have you got his exact birth date? If he happened to die1970-2006 it is possible to look for a death record using this.
