Hi Stuart, yes it appears that James Lever SENIOR (born c. 1817) appears TWICE in the 1881 census. But this is the last I see of him.

Does this help?

Is this the 1817 James you refer to? If so he is a few years younger now!

EDIT 2 - from your comment further down the thread, then this is ? him, recorded for the second time in 1881. I see a son William b 1843 on the 1851 census

Hi Reggie - James was recorded in the 1871 then NO SIGN after. Joseph was then recorded in the 1881 and again, NO SIGN after.

I'm sorry but I really don't know if they had children or married - I descend from their brother Michael Lever (1853-1913).

Have you done any research using variants of the surname?

When were the sons last found on census returns?

Did they marry?

Did they father children?

Hi there,

I have looked and looked but can't find the deaths for the following:

James Lever, born c. 1817 in Bolton (living with wife Ann/Hannah Monkhouse in 1871 in Bolton, and in 1881 in Runcorn, Cheshire).

Ann died in 1901 and was a widow.

I'm also looking for information on their two sons, Joseph Lever born 1861 in Bolton, and James Lever, born 1862 again in Bolton.

Can you help find these three deaths?

Cheers,

Peter
