If the medal card is right then you can search the records on Ancestry by using his service number in case it has been mistranscirbed

You are lucky to find any records as 70% were destroyed during the bombing of WW2

I only found the medal card for my grandfather

Only around 30% of all WW1 army records survive, some only 1 medical or medal card.

During WW2 the building where these records were kept was badly bombed.

Also there is no rhyme or reason to the names of those whose records survice, they can be from any letter of the alphabet and from a myriad of regiments.

In this case it is truly the luck of the draw.

We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars, Oscar Wilde New avatar, my dad age about 3/4 months, could have been worse, it could have been the awful nude on a rug!!

I have read here on the boards that a number of WW1 records were lost in the bombings in WW2.

I've had a look and I can't see your Thomas Critchlow either.

I cannot trace the service records of my grandfather THOMAS HENRY CRITCHLOW, born in Buxton Derbyshire UK on 30/4/1893and would appreciate some help please
