Not finding a marriage to Thomas White, Charles Grimes or the mysterious Mr Black, I'm afraid.

Purely on the 1861 name of the granddaughter, I wonder if this is the marriage. You need more information before accepting this.

Sharon

Sharon Report 8 May 2013 19:30

It's a bit confusing that Sarah Jane's birthplace is given as Hereford in the 1911 census, but as Haydensbent, Shropshire in the 1901 census. Yet the records are definitely relating to my great grandmother as both censuses show the same address in Barry, Glamorgan.

It's very interesting that in the 1871 census Ann Bailey (then married to Joseph Bailey) has a lodger named Thomas White.

If she is widowed and then marries the same Thomas White , his age is about right for the 1881 census as is hers. However, the daughter Mary Ann Bailey who is aged 6 in 1871 cannot then be aged only 10 in 1881. Also, yet again the daughter in 1881 named Jane White rather than Sarah Jane White is listed as having been born in Staunton Lacey, Shropshire. I think I will definitely have to order my great grandmother's birth certificate to try to shed some light on a/ where she was born and b/ if the Ann Bailey (which I think is correct) is the same person as Ann White from the 1881 census.
