Find Ancestors

I am brand new to this..... Seeking information or direction on finding my fathers parents. Harry Gunn married to Emily Gunn formerly Booth who came from
Cambridge area probably born in the late 1800's. So how do I go about this please?

Welcome to the boards - thrre are lots of Gunn's in Cambridge - can you give a rough year in the 1800s and the name of their children including your father's name

It can be found on www.freebmd.org.uk, a free site that you can us to find births marriages and deaths in England and Wales form the start of registration on July 1 1837, up to about 1960

I should start by ordering the marriage certificate, if you do not have it.

It should give you the names of the fathers and the ages Harry and Emily ................ that then gives clues to finding them in records before their marriage.


Neither of them have very unusual names, so every little bit of help is needed!


Also, ask any living relatives for any knowledge that theymight have, to help you flesh out the picture.
