Can some kind person do me a kindness please. I am still trying to find my elusive gt.grandmother Sarah Ann Cooper b. 1873 Islington.

As you can imagine this is a very common name, and the permutations are endless.

However, I THINK she married a Joseph Fluin b. 1865. They married in Islington in 1892.

Can someone please look on the 1901 and 1911 Census returns [presumably Islington] to see if any of the dates match?

Thank you.

Andrew

Hello Andy,

Could well be, this lady seems to be shrouded in mystery. I have had one version of events about her, but they turned out to be not true.

Do you have an address for the 1901 Census, then I will be able to narrow it down a bit. She was living at Slaney Place in 1881 with her parents.

Any joy with the 1911 please?

best wishes

Andrew

Andrew Report 9 May 2013 20:56

1901 address looks like 5 James Street.

No luck 1911 yet.

Which of their children would be your ancestor?

MotownGal Report 9 May 2013 21:00

Oh sorry Andy, I waffled on and did not answer your question!

My ancestor is the mother Sarah. She had a child in 1891 out of wedlock, and left him with her parents, then married and had a new family.

Strangely, she named her first born son and her eldest son in her new family the same................Charles!!

Thanks for your help so far.

Amanda,

Amanda, Report 9 May 2013 21:05

Possible 1911 FLUIN, Rose aged 13

Address:40 Mertell Road Dulwich
Industrial School, Inmate, looks like a Girls Home

Kind regards
Amanda

Thank you Fredk, but Cooper was Sarah's maiden name.

She married a Joseph Fluin/Fluiss, and I think lived in Islington.

But thank you for looking up the 1911 for me.

Cheers.

Oooh thank you all. I have been on bmd and deceasedonline while you have all been busy replying to me.

I see that Joseph and Sarah died within 3 months of each other. Was 1906 the height of the influenza epidemic? Maybe that accounts for the daughter being in some kind of institution?

I have gained more info tonight, than in the last 5 years searching. Thank you all very much for your time and efforts, very much appreciated.

Best wishes
Madeleine

According to the 1901 census, Charles Fluin (Transcribed as Fluiss/Fluire) was born in 1892.

I can't see a birth registered for him but wondering about this.....

??

England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index, 1837-1915

Name: Charles Fluin
Spouse name: Emma Tree
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1906
Registration district: St Pancras

If he was born in 1892........he would have been 16 when he married?
