Thanks again to all of you the information you have found is fantastic. I did wonder how my great gran met George Dicks in London but worked out that as he was an Engine Driver it was possible that he could have lived in Bristol and one of his railway routes was to London. There is a lot to go through and sort out who is who but it is worth it to get my tree in order. My grandad called his eldest son George so I now think he might have been told who his dad was still strange my grandad called himself Haycroft not Dicks unless as they lived in Bristol as did George's family might not have been sensible. My grandad was supposed to have gone to school in Bedminster which is Bristol.

Thanks again everyone

The photo I have is of a couple who look the right age for when they married there is nothing on the photo but the woman looks so much like my Aunt and the man looks like Grandad. I have not been able to find a death for Susan Dicks nee Farmer but it must have been after 1919 because my dad met her off the Bristol train when he was about 5 or so. Said she was very smartly dressed but then she was a dressmaker.

Are you using this free site??

www.freebmd.org.uk/

It is one of the free sites we all use to look up births, deaths and marriages.

The best pace to purchase certificates is online here........

Thanks PricklyHolly I did use freebmd but never had much luck even with births when I knew the year a person was born. I think with Susan Dicks I probably never came that far forward thinking it must have been earlier than it was. Thanks also for the site for purchasing certs I was going to look on line for registry offices in Bristol but this will be better.
