Can anyone help me choose the correct year of death for Charlotte. Born c1821 Ampthill. Widow of William Taylor, who was licensee of the Bell Inn Westoning. 1891 Census has her at Ampthill Road Westoning living alone. Choice of 1892 or 1898 both Ampthill. I thought it was worth trying this on the board, and if no joy will toss a coin and send for one of the death certificates. :-\

I think the only way you will know which is correct is by ordering both certs unfortunately as I takeout both ages at time of death match your lady?

For those of us who aren't familiar with the places, is this Bedfordshire?

Added -as they are both in the Ampthill reg district, that isn't any help.

I agree, you need to choose a cert and cross fingers it is the right one!

If you phoned GRO, you might be able to place a search order based on 01 Jan 1895 with the search parameter of 'Widow of Wiliam Taylor' in Ampthill reg district. They will search 3 years from that date until they find the correct entry.

Yes it's Bedfordshire. And thanks to all it was worth a go on here. Will follow gut feeling and send of for the earliest one. At least there are only two to choose from.
Cheers guys!

This *might* be the other Charlotte Taylor

1891 England Census about Charlotte Taylor

Charlotte Taylor
Age: 70
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1821
Relation: Wife
Spouse's Name: Samuel Taylor
Gender: Female
Where born: Shillington, Bedfordshire, England
Civil parish: Silsoe

Registration district: Ampthill
Sub-registration district: Shillington

Unless Westoning church had Silsoe in its catchement area, I'd go with the later one.
What ever you decide, do let us know the result
