Hi, Charles' marriage certificate (1904) states father name as Thomas Singleton (deceased) and it was always assumed that Selina and Thomas married - clearly this isn't the case which is where I got confused I think. And I can't find any marriage record anyway. :-(

You're very welcome Wendy. Would much rather you took the time to digest what has been found, some of which you may already have.

However, could you confirm where you have got Selina Jane as surname Singleton?

You guys are amazing! And your research skills are awesome!!

I need to have a slower read through your answers and confirm what I know, then gather what fits. Hope you don't mind waiting for me to get my head round this!

Thank you so much for your help. :-)

And I think her father Tom must have had two wives called Emma ......

Tenerife Sun Report 15 May 2013 22:28

I think that maybe George Thomas is Selinas brother and Charles Thomas is her son and being brought up by her parents, Charles Thomas's grand parents

MC

Thought it was too easy!

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 15 May 2013 22:07

Christine, I think (hope!) the baptisms above match those birth records -

Charles Thomas baptised 08 March 1874 - mother Selina Jane Burston

George Thomas baptised 10 February 1874 - parents Tom and Emma Burston.

Give up trying to find Selina Jane and Charles Thomas as Singleton until we get further input from Wendy.

I think this may be the death of the Charles Thomas Burston shown above, but he died as Burston - not Singleton:

Perhaps Charles Thomas was fostered out to a "Singleton" family??
