Give him time Dave - he may have real life events going on.

Check your sent message box - if there is still an envelope icon next to the message, he hasn't had a chance to read it yet. ;-)

List of Places in Tendring Registration District can be found here
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/tendring.html

If the immigration records match with the family, you may find that the MC doesn't list a (birth) father. The BC would be more informative by giving the mother's name.

Possibly his birth - note that mothers maiden name is the same as his surname. Although a Cook might have married a Cook, it usually indicates that the mother was unmarried

CECIL R R
Last Name COOK
Birth Year 1920
Mother's Maiden Name COOK
Year 1920
Country England
County Essex

You are obviously in contact with his son (on Ancestry) - is Cecil/Cyril still alive?

If not, when did he die? Australian records show mother and father up to 1985

Certificates aren't held in London unless you are thinking of local register office. However unless you pay big money you can't get the cert on the one visit

Far easier is to order it online from the GRO

Dea Report 21 Jun 2013 20:30

Dave - just order the cert through GRO site - £9.25.

It will probably be cheaper and quicker than visiting London !

Cecil and Ann/Annie (name depending on which record you look at) seem to have lived in Corporation Street in Islington in the 1950s according to the Electoral Rolls.

In 1959 and 1960 they appear to have moved:

London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965
Name: Cecil R Cook
Year: 1960
County or Borough: Lewisham
Ward or Division/Constituency: Lewisham South
Street Address: 32 Dunfield Road

Ann Cook at same address.

Why do you think you need to go to the records office?

Sounds like he was a £10.00 pom
