Michael - you are not answering any of the questions though.

Where have you got 1844 from for your birth of Thomas? You say you have a birth certificate - do you? If so, who is the father named on this certificate? And the mother?

What is the exact date of birth?

And as has been suggested, if you don't have marriage certificate to Sarah...get it?

Thanks for that ihave no certificate but to stop my confusion i will get one Regards Michael

Graham Report 28 Jun 2013 08:50

Jude, I think he got the 1844 birth by doing a search on this site. However, there was an error in the transcription which gave the wrong name.
Michael, in your opening post you refer to a certificate. Now you say you don't have one?

Michael

Buy the 1878 marriage cert.....................get some factual info, instead of guessing.

It's your guessing which has caused your confusion

And, Jude....................no, there is no death recorded for Thomas prior to Sarah's second marriage.

Michael Report 28 Jun 2013 09:24

i Was looking at the certificate on this site i have just ordered the marriage certificate from the GOV Site lets see what it shows me thanks again for all your patience and help Regards Michael

Graham Report 28 Jun 2013 09:29

What you're looking at on this site is not a certificate. It's a transcription of a record which (if the transcription is correct) gives you the information you need to order the relevant certificate from the GRO. But remember to check the original image. As you have seen mistakes are made.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 28 Jun 2013 09:52

You cannot see certs on this site.

All you can see is the INDEX

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 28 Jun 2013 10:33

As has been said, Its the index your looking at and not a certificate, Note these records on the index are transcriptions, transcribed by people/humans some of these index images are far from easy to transcribe and that's not taking into account human error so always best to check the actual image that the transcription was taken from,

For just what info you will find on any BMD certificate

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 28 Jun 2013 18:26

Thomas H Todd b 1855 seems to disappear! I am open to suggestion but in 1881 - just three years after their marriage, Sarah is alone and their two year old son - seemingly named after his father - is with his grandparents. She is "Head" and I think it is probably "widowed"....but there is not a death that fits before she marries again in 1886.

This death fits....

Deaths Jun 1881 (>99%)
Todd Thomas 25 Morpeth 10b 191

As does this

Deaths Mar 1888 (>99%)
TODD Thomas 33 T_nbridge 2a 447

But I cannot find anything in Wales that fits right up to when he would be 100 (if WE are right) and 111 if Michael is.

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 28 Jun 2013 19:10

Michael please do.....it might be worth a £9.25 punt on Thomas H Todd to Lilian Francis White...if only to see what he says about HIS father. On the face of it, his father died just after he was born and his mother remarried....but I just can't find a death for his father :-S

Rambling Report 28 Jun 2013 19:20

It may not be relevant but Thomas's brother Ivor born 1850 also seems to disappear after the 1871 census, maybe just a possible that they emigrated for work, and Thomas died overseas?

This is Ivor in 1871 for ref

There is a tree on Ancestry which has a second marriage for William, and half siblings to Thomas ( 1855) , but it doesn't have anything further on Thomas or brother Ivor after 1871.

NB Not finding the marriage but this is the 1881 census?

Just a coincidence but I had family that moved from the ebbw vale area of Wales to the north east looking for work in 1880 and so I would not rule out the death posted by HeyJudeB4Beatles

THOMAS TODD rank Ale and Porter Merchant as ia the same for WILLIAM TODD and the residance at time of marriage is High street ABERDARE.
still a bit confused because on her post Elizabeth is Williams spouse
