Find Ancestors

Hi All,
I have a copy of his marriage certificate of 1879 to Charlotte BECKETT, in Islington, London.
It states his father as William Richardson, Cabinet Maker. Various census records suggest a date of birth around 1821 and m. poss Elizabeth Taylor 1847 Q4 Stepney v2 p481.

However, I am struggling to find a birth record for James, to confirm the William/Elizabeth link. There are a couple of options that are located near each other in London:
b. poss 1856 Q1 Hendon, Middlesex, 3A p89
b. poss 1856 Q3 Stepney, London 1C p463
I don't have a huge fund, so am loathe to buy both certificates as speculation.

If anyone has info, I'd be most appreciative!

Quite likely that his birth simply wasn't registered..........there were no penalties prior to 1875 for not registering births

Your best bet is to look for a baptism

BUT.........if he definitely had a second forename, logic dictates that it would be recorded at the time of his birth. If the births you have found don't have second names............................

Lookin gon the map, Hendon & Hoxton are only abut 8 miles away, so perhaps Hoxton is the district name. I'd overlooked that.
Maybe I'll speculate on that one first.

Maureen, they are definitely the same signatures.

It's helped by the fact that Charlotte Huckle had been a bit too keen to sign her new name on the register so had signed as Richardson.

No doubt at all about William's.
