Find Ancestors

On the birth Certificate of Margaret Bennett born 28th of Feb 1857 Old Street St.Luke, County of Middlesex of 10 Seward Street, it has her parents down as: William Benjamin Bennett and Eliza Ann Bennett formerly: Lockett. Is anyone out there doing research into the Bennett or Lockett surnames, because I can't find the marriage records of William and Eliza Ann ? If anyone else can help, please do, thanks. There is I think, a marriage record of a William Bennett and Elizabeth Lockett but that seems to be in 1868, strange!

there is a tree on A****try which has him being married twice.
the marriage to Eliza Ann Lockett was in 1844 in Lambeth

The 1868 marriage is Elizabeth Lockett to William Webb.

The 1861 image is certainly 'Clara'...........but there is always the possibility that the enumerator mis-read the original form. The census returns were written-up from the originals,

As shown earlier, there is, on freebmd, only one marriage for his name in full before 1878

All you can do is keep ploughing through freebmd..........................use 'phonetic surname' search - it may throw up something.

However, I think you may be out of luck....................

Unless they both used aliases, they didn't, as far as I can see, ever get married

Looks like there was an Eliza Ann Lockett in Lambeth around the right time - she would only have been 15/16 when she married in 1844 if that is correct

Thanks very much for ALL this info, I went through them all... interesting! Regarding the first name 'Clara' I think if you looked at the original record it maybe: Eliza, but written in such a way to look like Clara. Also regarding a possible marriage of Eliza Ann Lockett, seems too young to be married, but a lot of strange things went on years ago... so possible.

I thought I would ask on here... I thought perhaps someone with a family link, or someone else may like to try and come up with a few added ideas. Thanks very much for your added info also. Eliza Ann Bennett must have remarried William Barton. The interesting thing, is now... should be able to go way back from John Lockett who married Sarah Collins ? They came from Lancashire/Manchester, and settled in the London area, including Lambeth. I think the surnames: Hughes, Taylor, and perhaps Booth is in this family connection, needs more looking into... Anyway, now, we see that Eliza Ann Bennett above, I'm pretty sure she did indeed married a William Benjamin Bennett. I think T.Blair's wife was a Booth and her family came from the same area, then she moved to Liverpool, anyone who wants to check all this out please do.

I think I did see a William Lockett ? born in Lancashire in the peerage, he had some noble link, something like that anyway.
