In the 1700's and early 1800's there were many Nicholls families in the church records in Welford and Bidford. Towards the end of the 1800's these families
no longer appear in the census in those towns. I have tracked Samuel's family because they remained in the Redditch area. His male line dies out in the late 1800's. His grandson, Frederick Nicholls, my great grandfather, left Redditch in 1835 and travelled to Australia.
I have for several years tried to find family in England, and this exercise is a continuation of the process.
Ideally, I'm looking for a Nicholls who knows their family came from Bidford in the 1730 to 1770's.
Quite a few people have copied my tree, so there will be matches with Mary Badger in trees on file.

Mary Badger is in about 6 peoples' trees on here.
Have you made contact with those people to see if they are descended from any of their other children?

When you say they disappear, have you considered that they could all have died young? If you have found no marriages for any of them in the parish records and no signs of emigration and no descendants on any sites that you have visited.....

........and have you looked in 'search all trees' as advised?

Have you tried researching Samuel's siblings, in the same way as you have researched Samuel?

Richard and Mary Nicholls had 8 children, number 5 was Samuel who married Elizabeth Taylor in Arrow 10May1787. They lived in Redditch/Tardebigge. Samuel was my 3-greatgrandfather. Have tracked Samuel's descendants, more interested in his brothers, John, Thomas, William, Job, Joseph, but also sisters Mary and Hannah. I have no information on these children because have had no success tracing them. The Nicholls families from Bidford and Welford are connected, but seem to disappear in the late 1800's........Ian.

Who were their immediate descendants?

How did you work back to this couple?

Welcome to the boards, Ian.

If you are looking for descendants then it is up to you to be pro-active - have you found their children, grandchildren, etc?

Have you looked to see if anyone on here has Richard or Mary in their trees, and tried to contact them?

It is better than sitting and waiting in the hope that people may contact you.

Good luck.
