Thank you very much for your replies, sorry about the delay in my response. I have the information that you gave to me other than what is a marine fireman ? The other was regarding the last sighting of JJW. I have a cutting from the local Ashton paper about the death of JJW's mother in which it states " she was worried about her son who was in the Navy". This was dated in 1921. Other that I'm stumped. Thanks anyway but if you find anymore let me know. Cheers Ian. |

I'm trying to find out what happened to JJW. He was born in England, registered birth in Barnsley in 1880, parents Job and Catherine Wilkshire. He lived in Liverpool and was a marine fireman, presumably that means a stoker, and was last heard of in 1921 whilst still serving in the Navy, Royal or merchant I don't know. If anyone has any info. please let me know. Thanks. Ian. |
