Trying to find the date and details of which ship he travelled on. I did find details on Ancestry for a George Heron under the Immigrations & Travel section but do not have Worldwide membership so cannot access the info.

Well thats promising. I believe that George's older brother Henry worked as a Cooks Mate on a ship that went to Australia in 1856 when it arrived Henry disappeared, until his death was registered in 1901, I wondered as George married in Oz in 1863 if he had travelled with or about the same time as Henry.

Thank you Andy I knew that he arrived about 1856 and died in Victoria in 1901 and his occupation was a "Baker" but know nothing about what he was up to in between.
If he is the same Henry he is a bit of a naughty boy.... he left England in Sept 1856 had married in 1854 and his wife gave birth to a daughter in Oct 1856.

Thank you Chris, This Henry is also from Gloucestershire but not the one I have been researching, This Henry was from Chipping Camden I think and It appears that in the 1880's he owed about £45,000 and after that had some sort of breakdown and was committed to Gladesville Asylum in Sydney. I don't know exactly how long he spent there, but he appears in the Directories of Sydney from 1895 to 1912 when he died. He married into a very high powered family, his wife's father being Sir William Montagu MANNING who was a Judge and amongst other positions he held was that of Chancellor of Sydney University.
